Gulabo Sitabo Review: Disintegrated Storytelling lets you Down

Amitabh Bacchan teaming up with Ayushmann Khurrana for the first time, and what more we need as a viewer to get hooked to the release of the film. But did it match our expectations? First Bollywood film which opted for an OTT release prior a theatrical release.

Revolving around a mouldering Haveli of which the only guardian is Mirza (Amitabh Bachchan) and a few tenants of Haveli are the characters of this story including Baankey (Ayushmann Khurrana). Adding up further is an archeology department worker played by Vijay Raaz and Brijendra Kala who essays a lawyer.

The reason we all have admired Shoojit Sircar films like Vicky Donor, Piku and October were due to it’s in-depth writing and well defined characters who’ve turned out to be entertaining in an engaging tale. But this is what lacks in Gulabo Sitabo.

What we were excited more was the new chemistry we would witness between Bachchan and Khurrana, but there’s nothing we could highlight more of. Revolving around the Haveli and having a governmental angle to it, the film could’ve been more interesting. But the whole premise turns out to be very disappointing.

The film fails to root to it’s story and you certainly expect a lot from the beginning itself, but there’s nothing more stored for us. Gulabo Sitabo’s disintegrated storytelling lets you down.
