Gulabo Sitabo Review: Disintegrated Storytelling lets you Down

Amitabh Bacchan teaming up with Ayushmann Khurrana for the first time, and what more we need as a viewer to get hooked to the release of the film. But did it match our expectations? First Bollywood film which opted for an OTT release prior a theatrical release.

Revolving around a mouldering Haveli of which the only guardian is Mirza (Amitabh Bachchan) and a few tenants of Haveli are the characters of this story including Baankey (Ayushmann Khurrana). The reason we all have admired Shoojit Sircar films like Vicky Donor, Piku and October were due to it’s in-depth writing and well defined characters who’ve turned out to be entertaining in an engaging tale. But this is what lacks in Gulabo Sitabo.

What we were excited more was the new chemistry we would witness between Bachchan and Khurrana, but there’s nothing we could highlight more of. Revolving around the Haveli and having a governmental angle to it, the film could’ve been more interesting. But the whole premise turns out to be very disappointing.

The film fails to root to it’s story and you certainly expect a lot from the beginning itself, but there’s nothing more stored for us. Gulabo Sitabo’s disintegrated storytelling lets you down.

Bajirao Mastani is back

Bajirao Mastani is coming back. No, the film is not re-releasing but is going to get adapted as a musical play for stage. The film’s musical play is being directed by Maitreyee Pahari, while Pandit Birju Maharaj is the creative director. Actor, Rajniesh Duggal will star as Bajirao.

In a statement about the play, Rajniesh said :
“I am extremely glad to have been trained under the guidance of Pandit Birju Maharaj ji for the musical. This is something I have never done before. While initially, the plan was to take it to different cities and countries there is a possibility that it will go online. The talks are still on.”

For the roles of Mastani and Kashibai, Famous Kathak dancers, Shailja Nalwade and Anusua Majumdar are selected. Further, to make the show a grand spectacle, the play will include 10 musical seqeuences, 50 dancers and 12 actors from all over the country.

As the film was known for its musical brilliance too, the play will feature 7 tracks from the film including the popular song ‘Malhari’.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s,Bajirao Mastani released in 2015 and starred Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone. The film was a blockbuster and won the filmfare award for best film.

The Indian Olympic Association successfully conducted the first edition of the outreach workshop in December 2018 in New Delhi.

For the second edition this year, Chairman of the Athletes Commission, Dr. Malav Shroff took the initiative to conduct the Career+ Outreach Workshop in Mumbai. On 12 October 2019 in collaboration with the Indian Olympic Association, the second edition of the Athlete365 Career+ Outreach Workshop was organised in Mumbai at the Mumbai Cricket Association Recreation Centre with support of IOC Athletes Commission, International Olympic Committee and The Adecco Group. As many as 29 athletes aged between 17 to 24 years from Athletics, Boxing, Fencing, Hockey, Shooting, Sailing, Swimming, Rowing and Rugby attended the day-long workshop led by Educator and Olympian Anjali Bhagwat. Staff of Adecco officials guided the athletes on interview skills, CV, etc.

At the end of the Workshop, IOA Athletes Commission Chairman, Dr. Malav Shroff gave certificates to the young athletes and applauded the efforts of IOA. Indian Olympic Association also expressed its gratitude to Dr. Malav Shroff for leading the coordination of the logistics and event preparations.

If the calendar keeps ever-increasing, the only way to reduce stress on the teams, drivers and crew is by reducing the number of days involved of a Grand Prix weekend. A day less per race will mean 22 days saved (or at home) for the Formula 1 traveling circus from 2020.

However, hosting qualifying and race on the same day isn’t practical – from a business and operational perspective.

Traditionally, it has been television broadcast that has been the main driver of schedules. The objective is clear – adjust the live broadcast to the best possible times for the core markets. The biggest consideration for same day sessions will have to be broadcast timing. Currently, an hour on Saturday & 2-odd hours on Sunday is the commitment needed from Formula 1 fans. If the sessions happen on Sunday, Formula 1 could risk losing fans who wouldn’t want to lock out a full Sunday (22 times a year in 2020) to follow a race. At the moment, the schedules allow for Sunday mornings to be used for other activities (like socialising with non-Formula 1 fans and so on). If qualifying and races were to take place on the same day, my assumption is that fans would be forced to choose one session over the other leading to a direct impact on overall viewership.

Moreover, the broadcast slot for qualifying might not be the most ideal for a lot of races – European & fly-away. For example, the 2019 Japanese Grand Prix qualifying was at 0300hrs in Europe – there’s no way the new fans and fence-sitters would commit to such a broadcast time. And of course – notwithstanding pressure on teams-drivers risking quick turnaround times in case of issues in morning qualifying. Formula 1 can’t afford a Ferrari, Mercedes or any other team not being able to field 2 cars due to extensive repair times – a broadcast contract requirement.

For that, open YouTube in Chrome. Play any video. Hover your mouse over the sound icon in the YouTube player. A volume slider will show up. Increase the volume. Alternatively, hold down the SHIFT key and use up or down arrows to increase or decrease the volume.

PRO TIP: If there is no volume at all from YouTube, right-click on the YouTube tab in the top bar, and select unmute.

3. CHECK VOLUME FOR CHROME

In Windows 10, each app gets a separate volume setting. So you can have the maximum volume in one app and 50% in another. Sometimes, this setting changes for Chrome, and that’s why you get low volume on YouTube.

There are two methods to fix it. 

Method 1: Change Volume for Chrome From Volume Mixer

Launch Chrome and play a video on YouTube. It is important to play a video or audio through any site so that Chrome appears in the Volume mixer section of Windows.

Then right-click on the sound icon on the taskbar and choose Open Volume Mixer from the menu.

Increase the volume for Google Chrome using the available slider.

Method 2: Change Volume for Chrome From Settings

Open Settings on your Windows 10 PC from the Start Menu. You can use the keyboard shortcut Windows key + I to open Settings.

Go to System.

Then go to Sound. Scroll down in the Sound settings and click on ‘App volume and device preferences’ option.

You will find Google Chrome listed there if a tab is playing audio or video. Increase the volume of Google Chrome using the slider.

PRO TIP: In both the methods, if the volume is already high, decrease it to a minimum level and then increase again.

4. RESET SOUND SETTINGS TO DEFAULT VALUES

You can also try resetting sound settings to their original values. For that, go to Settings > System > Sound. Click on 'App volume and device preferences' option. Scroll down, and you will see the Reset button. Click on it.
 
5. CHANGE OUTPUT DEVICE

Sometimes, a different output device is selected, and that’s why you either hear low or no volume from your computer. To fix it, you need to change the output device in sound settings.

Here are the steps for the same:

Step 1: Open Control Panel on your computer.

Step 2: Click on Sound.

Step 3: You will see the output devices listed on the screen that opens. If multiple speakers show up, click on a different one to change the default playback device. Then click on Set Default.

6. DISABLE AUDIO ENHANCEMENTS

You should also try disabling audio enhancements. For that, go to Sound in Control Panel. Click on your speaker and then hit the Properties button at the bottom.

Go to the Advanced tab. Uncheck the box next to Enable audio enhancements. Click on Ok to save the changes.

PRO TIP: On the Advanced tab, try changing the sample rate and bit depth values under Default Format.

7. CHANGE COMMUNICATION SETTINGS

In the Sound settings of Windows 10, you will find a setting that reduces the volume if you use PC for telephone calls. You need to change it for optimum results.

For that, go to Control Panel > Sound. Click on the Communication tab. Select Do nothing.

8. DISABLE SPATIAL SOUND

For many users, disabling Spatial sound on their Windows PC improved the volume levels on YouTube. To turn it off, right-click on the sound icon on the taskbar. Go to Spatial Sound from the menu and turn it off.

9. CHECK EXTENSIONS

Did you recently install any extension in Chrome especially related to YouTube or audio? If yes, disable it for a while and see if the YouTube low volume issue is fixed.

10. UPDATE CHROME

RESET CHROME SETTINGS
