Upcoming Interesting Biopics in Bollywood


The poster of ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’ released a few days ago and the film has got everyone excited as Janhvi Kapoor will be essaying the role of first IAF woman officer, Gunjan Saxena. The biopic is all set to release on Netflix.

When it comes to films based on real life stories or biographical dramas, it raises another level of excitement within the audience as their favourite stars would step into the shoes of real life heroes.

Maidaan


Set in 1950s, the film will be based on the life of legendary football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, who was a frontline man when it came to lead India into the semi-finals of the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. He is credited with ushering in the golden era of Indian football. Ajay Devgn will be essaying his role in Maidaan and the film will be directed by Badhaai Ho fame director Amit Sharma. The film also stars Keerthy Suresh and Gajraj Rao.

Gangubai Kathiawadi


And its time for Sanjay Leela Bhansali to return back with this periodic drama. With Alia Bhatt playing the titular role, the film portrays the real story of Gangubai, a brothel owner who ruled the Mumbai underworld in the 60s. Gangubai was forced into prostitution at a young age and had a soft spot for the girls in Kamathipura, Mumbai’s red-light district. She was also involved in the city’s drug business. Fans would definitely love watching Alia in this avatar as she loves playing challenging characters.

Kaagaaz

Helmed by Satish Kaushik, Kaagaaz is based on the true story of a farmer declared dead by government records. The story is inspired by the life of Lal Bihari, a farmer in UP who was declared dead for 18 years. The mistake was discovered to be a conspiracy hatched by Lal Bihari’s uncle, who wanted to bag his property. The film will be led by Pankaj Tripathi as the main protagonist.
